Now, the rain has started again. The weather department has predicted heavy rain in many parts of Maharashtra. From today, a warning of extremely heavy rain has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri districts.
Heavy rain started in Mumbai and the suburbs on Sunday night, and torrential showers have been pouring since early Monday morning. The continuous rain has cast darkness over the city. An orange alert has been issued for Raigad, Ratnagiri, Pune, and the Ghats, indicating a likelihood of more rain in these areas. Raigad and Thane have been experiencing heavy rain for the past few hours, and there was continuous rain throughout the night in Navi Mumbai as well.
The continuous rain has impacted Mumbai's transportation. The local train schedule has been disrupted, with trains on the Central Railway line running an average of 10 to 15 minutes late. There is a delay of five to ten minutes on the Harbour line. Meanwhile, waterlogging has started on the roads in Dadar, Matunga, King's Circle, Five Gardens, and Hindmata areas.
There has been a significant impact on road traffic as well. The Andheri West subway has been closed for traffic. Additionally, the speed of traffic has slowed down due to water accumulation in low-lying areas. Thousands of commuters set out for work, but due to the heavy rain, they are facing inconvenience. Citizens are advised to take special care when stepping out of their homes.
