Sinhagad Fort Closed Tomorrow Due to Landslide Risk Amid Heavy Rains
In light of continuous heavy rainfall in the region, authorities have announced the temporary closure of Sinhagad Fort for all tourists and trekkers on May 29. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure due to the increased risk of landslides, as warned by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Complete Ban on Entry via All Routes
Access to the fort from all popular entry points — including Kalyan Darwaza, Atkarwadi, and other surrounding routes — will be strictly prohibited for the entire day. The closure coincides with a scheduled disaster management inspection tour intended to assess the safety and readiness of the area in case of natural calamities.
Forest Department's Appeal to Citizens
The Forest Department has appealed to the public to cooperate with the administration and avoid unnecessary travel to Sinhagad Fort. With tourist activity typically rising at the onset of the monsoon season, the department emphasized the importance of public safety over recreational visits.
