A controversy had arisen regarding the purchase process of 448 crore rupees for the state's prison department. However, in this case, the Home Department has declared the then Special Inspector General of Police, Jalindar Supekar, innocent and given a clean chit. It has been clarified that this purchase was made through a regulated tender process.

This matter became a topic of discussion during the monsoon session. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis provided this information while answering a starred question posed by Vadgaon Sheri MLA Bapusheb Pathare in the Legislative Assembly. According to him, the purchase of prison items was conducted transparently through the GM Portal and MahaTender system.

In the purchases made by the prison department, Rs 111 crore was spent on CCTV, generators, panic buttons, Rs 81 crore on electronic equipment, Rs 42 crore on computers, Rs 7 crore on medical equipment, and Rs 205 and 67 crore respectively on ration and canteen supplies. A total purchase of Rs 448 crore 9 lakh was made during the period from 2022 to 2024. Meanwhile, two supplier companies had sought relief against this purchase through a petition in the Mumbai High Court. However, the court dismissed these petitions on July 4, stating that there was no proper information in them.

Earlier, Supkar, whose name appeared in the case related to Vaishnavi Hagwane in Mulshi taluka, was immediately transferred and appointed to the 'Home Guard' department.
