Justice Bhushan Gavai Praises Uddhav Thackeray in Presence of Devendra Fadnavis at Nagpur Event
In a notable moment at a public event held in Nagpur, Chief Justice of India Bhushan Gavai praised former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray while addressing the audience in the presence of current Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The event, organized to mark progress at the state’s Law University, saw the participation of several dignitaries, including Chief Minister Fadnavis and Chief Justice Gavai. During his address, Justice Gavai recalled the timeline of the university’s development and acknowledged the contributions made by various political leaders over the years.
“Back in 2016, when the foundation stone for the law university was laid, Devendra Fadnavis was the Chief Minister. He extended substantial financial support to the university during that period,” Justice Gavai noted.
He continued, “In 2019, when Fadnavis was serving as the Leader of the Opposition, Uddhav Thackeray had assumed the role of Chief Minister. Even during the difficult days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Thackeray ensured that the university did not face any shortage of funds.”
Justice Gavai’s remarks were seen as a rare public commendation of Uddhav Thackeray’s administrative commitment, especially given the political dynamics between the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the BJP-led government.
Highlighting Fadnavis’s continued presence through the university’s journey, Justice Gavai added, “When the foundation was laid, he was the Chief Minister; later, as the Leader of the Opposition, and then as Deputy Chief Minister. Now, with the completion of the first phase, he’s back again as Chief Minister.”
