Kolhapur Panchganga River Nearing Danger Mark; 79 Barrages Still Submerged
The rain had taken a break for a few days, and now it seems to have started again. The intensity of the rain remains across the state, and the meteorological department has issued a rain warning in various districts. In many places, rivers and streams are overflowing due to heavy rain.
It is observed that the Panchganga in Kolhapur is slowly moving towards the danger level. The water level of Panchganga has reached 42 feet 7 inches, and 79 weirs are still submerged. The Kolhapur - Panhala and Kolhapur Shiye roads are closed due to floodwaters.
It is reported that residents of Sutar Wada, a flood-prone area in Kolhapur, have been relocated to a safe place. Two automatic gates of the Radhanagari dam have been opened, and a total discharge of 4356 cusecs of water is ongoing into the riverbed from Radhanagari. The routes towards Konkan are still reported to be closed.
