The scheme, which helped the grand alliance regain power in the assembly elections, is now becoming a headache for beneficiaries. This scheme, run by the state's Women and Child Development Department, promises regular grants, but many women who have completed the e-KYC process are still not receiving money in their bank accounts. As a result, they have to make rounds of banks and offices.

Some women have to make rounds to the bank for account KYC, while others have to go to the Women and Child Development Office in Gondia. There, the concerned officers and staff are making the beneficiaries run around by giving new reasons. Before the assembly elections, women who were registered in large numbers were stopped from receiving installments after the elections, citing them as faulty beneficiaries in the scheme. Recently, the government announced that the scheme would not be discontinued, but in reality, the implementation is stalled.

There is a crowd of hundreds to thousands of women at the office of the Women and Child Welfare Department. Beloved sisters have to climb the stairs to reach the office on the third floor. Some have not received installments for two months. Employees tell some that KYC has not been completed, while others are told that if there are names of three women on one ration card, only one will receive the installment. This has caused a wave of anger against the government among the beneficiaries, and the disappointment of the beloved sisters is increasing.

Summary
  • Many women have not received installments of the Beloved Sister Scheme.

  • Despite KYC being complete, visits to banks and offices continue.

  • After the election, installments were stopped citing errors.

  • There is intense dissatisfaction being expressed against the government among beneficiary women.
