Due to the heavy rain that started in Mumbai on Friday night, a landslide occurred in the Parksite area of Vikhroli early Saturday morning. Two people died in this incident and many were injured.

The Parksite area is hilly and has a large number of slums. Every monsoon, the risk of landslides is expressed. This year too, the municipality had issued an advance warning and asked some houses to be vacated. However, some families continued to stay there.

In the accident that occurred early Saturday morning, the Mishra family's house was buried under a landslide. According to preliminary information, Suresh Mishra (50) and his daughter Shalu Mishra (19) died. Meanwhile, his wife Aarti Mishra (45) and son Ruturaj (20), along with two others, are injured and are being treated at Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar.

Upon receiving information about the landslide, the fire brigade and municipal team arrived at the scene and began rescue operations. After extracting citizens from the debris, they were immediately shifted to the hospital.

The municipal corporation is relocating the remaining residents from the landslide-affected areas to safer locations. The weather department has issued an orange alert for Mumbai today, predicting heavy rain throughout the day. Therefore, vigilance has been increased in the hilly areas to prevent further incidents. Citizens are advised to avoid going out as much as possible and to follow the administration's instructions.
