Second Week of Maharashtra Assembly Monsoon Session Begins

The monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislature began today and will continue until July 18. With several burning issues on the table, the opposition is gearing up for an aggressive stance against the ruling coalition during this session.

Key issues expected to dominate the proceedings include the demand for farm loan waivers and compensation for affected farmers. Sources indicate that the opposition may intensify its agitation in the second week of the session over these concerns.

On the opening day itself, a protest on the legislature premises is likely, with opposition parties uniting to raise the issue of farmers’ distress. Alongside this, Thackeray-led Shiv Sena is set to reiterate its demand for the recognition of the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly.

A reminder letter addressing this matter will be submitted to Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar today. The Thackeray faction has been insisting on clarity and resolution regarding the post of Leader of the Opposition, which has remained contentious since the party split.
