Maharashtra Coronavirus Update: 45 New Cases Reported in a Single Day
Just as the world seemed to have put the COVID-19 pandemic behind, fresh concerns are emerging with rising cases in parts of Asia—and Maharashtra is not untouched. On May 23, the state recorded 45 new COVID-19 cases, raising questions about a possible resurgence of the virus.
Reports from Hong Kong and Singapore indicate a growing number of infections linked to a new strain of the coronavirus. Although the situation in Maharashtra remains under control, health officials are monitoring a gradual uptick in infections.
According to data available as of May 22, Mumbai has reported the highest number of active cases, with 183 currently under treatment. Among the new infections:
Mumbai recorded 35 cases,
Pune reported 4 cases,
Kolhapur and Raigad registered 2 each, and
Thane and Latur each reported 1 case.
Health authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and not ignore symptoms such as fever, cough, or difficulty in breathing. People experiencing such symptoms are advised to consult a doctor immediately and adhere to basic preventive measures.
