The torrential rains that have been ongoing for the past two days in Maharashtra have created a dire situation. Across the state, various incidents have resulted in the death of 12 people. The most severe situation was observed in Nanded district, where nine people lost their lives in flood conditions. In Mumbai, a wall collapse resulted in one death, while two others died in different areas.

Citizens from the flood-affected areas have been relocated to safe places, and arrangements for their meals have been made. According to the information provided by Disaster Management Minister Girish Mahajan, military assistance will be sought if necessary. Meanwhile, the water level of the Mithi River in Mumbai has risen above the danger mark, and residents along the riverbank have been warned.

The intensity of the rain continues in the Konkan region as well. A red alert has been declared in Raigad, Ratnagiri, and the Konkan area due to the Amba River in Raigad district and the Jagbudi River in Ratnagiri crossing the warning level. Railway services in Mumbai have also been severely disrupted, and waterlogging on the roads has had a serious impact on traffic.

The weather department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall in many parts of the state for the next 24 hours. Minister Mahajan has urged citizens not to leave their homes unnecessarily and to avoid tourism. He also informed that the administration is monitoring all situations and rescue operations are underway.
