Several regions of Maharashtra have been witnessing heavy rainfall, and forecasts suggest the situation is set to intensify. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued multiple alerts across districts, indicating the likelihood of moderate to extremely heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds.

According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rain is expected in many parts of the state within the next 3 to 4 hours. In response, the department has appealed to citizens to remain alert and follow safety protocols, especially in vulnerable areas.

District-Wise Alerts Issued Today:

  • Red Alert: The highest level of warning has been issued for Pune, Raigad, and Ratnagiri. These districts are expected to experience extremely heavy rainfall along with strong gale-force winds. Residents have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel and stay indoors as a precautionary measure.

  • Orange Alert: Satara, Kolhapur, and Sangli districts have been placed under an orange alert, signifying the potential for very heavy rain that could disrupt normal life and cause localized flooding.

  • Yellow Alert: Mumbai and Thane are under a yellow alert, indicating the possibility of moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning.

The IMD continues to monitor the evolving weather patterns and has urged local authorities to remain on standby for emergency response. Citizens are advised to stay tuned to official updates and advisories, and to avoid flood-prone areas during this period of intense weather activity.
