Schools across Maharashtra (excluding the Vidarbha region) reopened today, marking the beginning of the new academic year 2025–26. Classrooms once again echoed with the cheerful voices of returning students, as schools welcomed children with special celebrations across the state.

To mark the occasion, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis visited the Zilla Parishad School in Palghar district, extending his best wishes to the students. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde welcomed children at Kodoli School in Satara, and Ajit Pawar greeted students at Katewadi School near Baramati. Senior leaders from the state government took part in these welcome events, underscoring the importance of education and student welfare.

Schools across Maharashtra were decked out for the occasion, with colorful decorations, balloons, placards, welcome songs, roses, and sweets. Teachers, non-teaching staff, parents, and school management committees came together to ensure a joyful and memorable first day for the students.

In a student-friendly move, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has implemented a new plan to distribute ST bus passes directly at schools. This initiative is aimed at saving time for students and sparing them the inconvenience of standing in queues at bus depots.

The reopening day saw a spirited start to the school year, with renewed focus on student engagement, access, and convenience. The state government has expressed its commitment to ensuring quality education and improved facilities in the months ahead.
