Maharashtra Weather Update: Heavy Rains Expected in Konkan, Mumbai; Red Alert for Raigad and Ratnagiri
After a brief respite, the monsoon is set to intensify once again across Maharashtra. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued fresh alerts, warning of heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds and lightning in various parts of the state, particularly in the Konkan region and Mumbai.
The recent spell of dry weather had left citizens grappling with sweltering heat, but relief appears to be on the horizon. According to the IMD, rain activity will resume from today, bringing much-needed showers to several districts.
Mumbai and the Konkan region are expected to witness a significant increase in rainfall. Western Maharashtra, including Pune, is also likely to receive heavy showers over the coming days. The IMD has highlighted the possibility of intensified monsoon activity over the Ghats and coastal areas.
In view of the expected weather conditions, the IMD has issued a red alert for Raigad and Ratnagiri districts, indicating the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall in localized areas.
An orange alert has also been declared for Pune, the Konkan belt, and the Ghats region, cautioning residents about the likelihood of heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
Meanwhile, the rest of the state is under a moderate to heavy rainfall warning, as the monsoon continues to gain momentum.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions, especially in areas prone to flooding or landslides. Fisherfolk and those residing near coastal and low-lying regions have been advised to stay updated with local advisories and avoid venturing into the sea.
