Maharashtra Weather Update : Heavy Rain with Thunderstorms Likely in Several Areas

After a few days of respite, the monsoon is becoming active once again in the state, and the weather department has predicted an increase in rainfall intensity over the next two days. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in many parts of Konkan, Marathwada, Central and Western Maharashtra, as well as Vidarbha. Today, Thursday, a 'Yellow Alert' has been issued for 20 districts in the state, and tomorrow, Friday, for 22 districts. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant due to the possibility of thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rainfall.

There is a possibility of thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds (30-40 km/h) and heavy rain in some places in South Konkan and Marathwada. Particularly heavy rain is forecasted over the Ghats, including Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts. A yellow alert has been issued for Hingoli, Nanded, Beed, Latur, Dharashiv, and Parbhani districts in Marathwada on Thursday, and a yellow alert is in place for the entire Marathwada on Friday. Therefore, farmers are advised to protect their crops.

A yellow alert has been issued for Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, and Yavatmal districts in Vidarbha on Thursday and Friday. The weather department has warned of moderate to heavy rainfall. There is also a possibility of heavy rain in Pune, Satara, Solapur, Kolhapur, Sangli, and the hilly areas of Western Maharashtra. Due to the rain, there is a possibility of flood-like situations in some areas, so the local administration is alert.
