The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh warning for heavy rainfall across several districts of Maharashtra as monsoon activity intensifies across the state. Many regions have already experienced persistent downpours over the past few days, and the forecast suggests that the wet spell is set to continue.

According to the latest IMD bulletin, light to moderate showers are expected in Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar, with isolated pockets in these areas likely to witness heavy rainfall. The department has cautioned residents to remain alert, especially in low-lying and flood-prone zones.

In western Maharashtra, Sangli and Kolhapur districts are under special watch as rising water levels in rivers and local drains have increased the risk of flooding. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged citizens to stay vigilant.

Heavy rains are also expected in coastal districts such as Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, where high-intensity showers could disrupt transport and daily activities. Meanwhile, the ghat regions of Pune and Satara are likely to receive moderate to heavy rain, especially in elevated terrains prone to landslides and waterlogging.

The IMD has further issued alerts for several parts of western Maharashtra and Marathwada, warning of localized heavy rainfall and potential hazards related to water accumulation, road blockages, and crop damage.

State authorities have appealed to citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, especially in regions where flood risk is high. People living near rivers, hills, and landslide-prone areas are advised to relocate to safer places if necessary and follow official updates from the local disaster management units.
