Rain Havoc in Marathwada: 11 Dead
The torrential rain in Marathwada for the past five days has completely disrupted daily life. Due to continuous heavy rainfall, 11 people have lost their lives in various incidents so far, and farmers have suffered losses worth crores.
According to information received from the administration, a total of 498 animals have died, and 601 houses and sheds have collapsed. This monsoon disaster has severely affected agriculture, with as many as 438,000 farmers impacted. Preliminary data indicates that crops on nearly 358,000 hectares have been submerged.
Major seasonal crops like cotton, soybean, and pigeon pea have suffered significant damage, and the administration has expressed the possibility of these figures increasing after an actual assessment. Due to heavy rainfall, road traffic has come to a standstill in many places. Some villages have been completely cut off, and the power supply has been disrupted. The floods in rivers and streams are causing significant difficulties for residents in rural areas.
Meanwhile, relief efforts are underway at a war footing by the district administration and disaster management teams. The administration has released the statistics of the deceased and the damage for all these incidents.
