Cash Seizure Mumbai: Cash worth 2.5 crore found in Mumbai, major shock due to flying squad investigation
During the implementation of the code of conduct in the backdrop of the state municipal elections, the election flying squad seized ₹2.33 crore cash from two vans in the Deonar area of Mumbai. This operation has caused a stir in Mumbai, raising questions about the source and purpose of the money.
The flying squad received information about a suspicious van and a large sum was found during the investigation. The drivers claimed it was being taken to be deposited in an ATM, but due to increased suspicion, the information was given to the Income Tax Department. Further investigation has been handed over to the Income Tax Department, and currently, the cash is in the custody of the Deonar police. The exact source and route of the money are being investigated.
This action was taken considering the possibility of large-scale use of money during the election period. The Deonar police have recorded the incident in the station diary, and the investigation is progressing rapidly. Flying squads are deployed across the state, including Mumbai, and blockades are in place at the city entrances.
Intense vehicle inspections are being conducted in major cities to curb the enticement of voters by political parties. These actions are being increased as per the instructions of the Election Commission.
