Waterlogged Mumbai: Heavy Rains Cause Railway Disruptions
As monsoon clouds gather strength, Mumbai plunged into near darkness during daytime today, with thick cloud cover and continuous heavy rainfall creating a gloomy atmosphere across the city and its suburbs.
The state of Maharashtra has been experiencing intense rainfall over the past few days, causing damage to agriculture and disrupting daily life in several regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more heavy rainfall for Mumbai and the Konkan region today, with the situation expected to persist throughout the day.
Since early morning, Mumbai and its surrounding suburbs have witnessed relentless showers, accompanied by overcast skies that have blocked out daylight. The thick monsoon clouds have created a near-nightfall effect in some areas, adding to commuter woes.
The heavy rain has also begun to impact railway services, with both Central and Western Railway lines experiencing delays of 15 to 20 minutes. Waterlogging has been reported in several low-lying areas, further hampering movement, especially for office-goers navigating through the morning rush.
City officials have urged residents to stay indoors if possible and remain vigilant, especially in flood-prone zones. The IMD continues to monitor the situation closely and has advised citizens to follow official advisories for safety.
