The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has conducted a major operation, seizing approximately 160 tons of fake and poor quality goods. This operation included Chinese toys, cosmetics, and shoes, with the total seized assets valued at approximately 6.5 crore rupees, according to officials.

Based on confidential information, DRI simultaneously raided Mundra Port, Hazira Port, Kandla SEZ, and ICD Piyala (Faridabad) and seized 10 containers. These containers contained various products such as toys, counterfeit cosmetics, and shoes. Notably, these products were imported by declaring false information as 'decorative items'.

Officials clarified that the importers did not have the necessary BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certificate for the toys. This makes the import illegal under the Foreign Trade Policy 2020. Importing toys without such a certificate is completely prohibited, and such items must be re-exported or destroyed.

The cosmetics seized in this operation did not have any official approval, which could pose a risk to consumer health. According to information received from DRI, investigations into these types have been ongoing for the past four months. This joint operation was carried out by monitoring the suspicious containers.
