All accused in the Mumbai local chain bomb blast case have been acquitted. The Mumbai High Court has acquitted all the guilty. Five were sentenced to death and seven to life imprisonment. After 19 years, they have now been acquitted.
The hearing was completed in the month of January and the court had reserved the decision. It is reported that the convicts attended the hearing via video conference from Yerwada, Nashik, Amravati, and Nagpur prisons. The High Court is said to have stated that there was no truth in the evidence presented in this case, leading to an acquittal. This decision was given by the special bench of Justice Anil Kilore and Justice Shyam Chandak.
