A shocking incident has emerged in Mumbai, the financial capital of the country, in the last 36 hours. A total of 12 minors have gone missing from the jurisdiction of seven different police stations in the city, including 8 girls. This mass disappearance has caused a major stir in Mumbai, and the police administration has issued a 'high alert' in the city. There is a fear that an organized gang involved in child trafficking is active behind this.

Mumbai Police have registered kidnapping cases against unknown persons under Section 137(2) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) in all these cases. Search operations have been intensified in crowded places like slum areas, railway stations, and bus depots.

The police have speculated that a human trafficking racket might be behind the increasing cases of missing children. Concern is being expressed as the proportion of girls among the missing children is higher.

Increasing Statistics of Missing Children

According to Mumbai police statistics, a total of 145 children went missing from June to December 2025, of which 93 were girls. During the period from November 1 to December 6, 82 cases were registered, with more than half involving teenagers.

Administration's Appeal

Mumbai police have published photos of missing children in public places, bus stations, and hospitals. Citizens are urged to immediately contact the police if they notice any suspicious activities.
