High Tide Alert: Mumbaikars Warned to Stay Away from Beaches
The city’s administration has issued a high tide alert for the next five days, urging residents and tourists to stay away from beaches and cooperate with safety advisories.
According to official information, high tides are expected every day from June 24 to June 28, with the most intense activity forecast for June 26, when waves over 3.5 meters in height are expected. Authorities have emphasized the need for strict adherence to safety protocols during this period.
This warning comes as part of a broader monsoon safety campaign. Officials have noted that Mumbai is expected to experience high tides 19 times during the monsoon season, between June and September. The recurring tidal activity poses potential risks to coastal visitors, especially in low-lying areas and during peak tide hours.
The civic administration has appealed to the public to refrain from visiting beaches during this critical period, commonly referred to as the “recruitment period” of high tides. All citizens are advised to follow updates issued by the authorities through official channels and abide by beach closure notices and warnings.
Lifeguards and police forces have been deployed along the coastline to monitor the situation and ensure public safety.
