Society Receives ₹24 Lakh Water Bill from Municipal Corporation
A large housing society in Pune's Bavdhan area has been hit with a sudden water bill of Rs 24 lakh. The society has more than 500 flats and some commercial establishments, and the Municipal Corporation has sent the bill for the entire year at once instead of sending the water bill for a long time. It has been said that since the Municipal Corporation's water supply department currently has only 24 meter readers, it was not possible to take meter readings on time, and instead of two months, the outstanding bill for the entire year was sent at once.
According to the information received, the society has two residential and one commercial water connections. The commercial connection receives a bill of about Rs 80,000 every two months and it was paid on time. However, since no bill has been received from the Municipal Corporation for the whole year, now a huge amount has been charged.
Currently, the 'Uniform Water Supply Scheme' is being implemented in the city, and automatic meters that measure accurately have been installed at many places. The society secretary said, "We used to pay the water bill on time, but the bill has not been received for the last year. Now, the sudden demand for such a large amount has created financial stress, and we have requested the Municipal Corporation for relief." Residents are expecting the Municipal Corporation to take cognizance of this matter and take the right decision.
