After the elections of 226 municipalities and 38 town councils in the state have been completed, the countdown for the municipal corporation elections has now begun. The State Election Commission has called a meeting of commissioners from 29 municipal corporations, including Mumbai, tomorrow, Thursday, where detailed information about draft voter lists and election preparations will be taken. The commission intends to prepare a general election program considering the election readiness of the municipal corporation commissioners.

The State Election Commission had already announced the revised schedule regarding voter lists for the municipal elections. Accordingly, the deadline for objections and suggestions on the draft voter list ended today, Wednesday. It has been decided to finalize the ward-wise voter lists after resolving the objections and publish them on December 10, 2025. Subsequently, the polling station-wise voter list will also be published on December 22, 2025.

According to the revised schedule, information on how much the municipal corporations have completed election preparations will be taken in today's meeting. Also, if the municipal corporations request more time to correct the voter list, the Election Commission has stated that it is ready to give an additional two to three days for this. Based on the information received from the municipal commissioners, the election dates and schedule will be finalized, as clarified by the Election Commission officials.
