In a major crackdown on cyber fraud, the Crime Branch of Pune Police conducted a large-scale raid on a bogus call center operating in the Kharadi area of the city. The operation took place on Saturday, following a tip-off regarding illegal activities being conducted from the premises.

The raid was carried out at the 'Pride Icon' building, located on the Kharadi-Mundhwa bypass road. Acting swiftly on the intelligence received, police formed a dedicated team and launched the operation with the deployment of a massive police force consisting of 150 to 200 officers and personnel.

During the operation, several young individuals working at the call center were detained for questioning. Preliminary investigations suggest that the call center was involved in financial fraud, specifically targeting foreign nationals by impersonating representatives of international companies and offering fake services.

"The setup was being used to deceive overseas victims under the guise of technical support and customer service," a senior police official stated. Authorities are now working to uncover the full scale of the fraud and identify all those involved.

A detailed investigation is currently underway to determine the extent of the operation and the nature of the fraudulent activities. Officials have also seized electronic equipment and documents from the site, which are expected to provide further evidence.

This raid marks a significant step in the city police’s efforts to combat cybercrime and fraudulent call center operations.
