Pune Metro to Increase Frequency to Six Minutes During Peak Hours

This is reassuring news for the people of Pune. Currently, a total of 490 rounds are operated on both routes of the Pune Metro. Now, during peak hours, trains will run every 6 minutes, adding an additional 64 rounds. As a result, the total number of rounds will reach 554 from August 15. This change will prevent inconvenience to passengers due to crowding.

Currently, during peak hours, which are from 9 to 11 in the morning and 4 to 8 in the evening, trains run every 7 minutes. However, according to the new schedule, trains will be available every 6 minutes during peak hours and every 10 minutes during non-peak hours.

Meanwhile, major projects have been proposed to reduce traffic congestion in the Pune metropolitan area, including a 312 km metro route, 80 km BRTS route, 46 km bus route, redevelopment of 12 terminals, and construction of 19 flyovers. The estimated cost of these projects is approximately ₹1,33,535 crore. This plan was prepared by 'PMRDA' with the help of L&T, with recommendations and improvements included by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited. All these initiatives will significantly improve the public transport system in Pune and its surroundings, helping to save travel time.
