Pune: RCB Fans’ Celebration Turns Chaotic; Case Registered Against 30–40 Individuals
The excitement surrounding Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) maiden IPL title win sparked celebrations across the country — from Bengaluru to Pune. However, for a group of jubilant fans in Pune, the festivities ended on a sour note.
A case has been registered against 30 to 40 unidentified individuals who gathered at Goodluck Chowk in Pune’s Deccan area to celebrate RCB’s victory. The group reportedly burst firecrackers, chanted slogans, and created a ruckus, leading to significant traffic disruption in the area.
According to the Deccan Police, the gathering took place without any prior permission or official notice. The spontaneous celebrations blocked public roads and inconvenienced commuters during peak evening hours.
"Obstructing public roads and disturbing the peace without lawful approval is a punishable offense," said a police official. The case has been filed under relevant sections for unlawful assembly, causing public nuisance, and disturbing the peace. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and videos circulating on social media to identify the accused.
Police have urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and ensure that public order is maintained during such events. The incident serves as a reminder that even joyous occasions must be celebrated within the bounds of the law.
