On the occasion of Bakri Eid, celebrated across the country today, the Pune Traffic Police have implemented major temporary traffic changes in the city to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience for devotees participating in Eid prayers.

A large congregation is scheduled at the Eidgah ground in Golibar Maidan, prompting authorities to take special precautions to avoid traffic congestion in the surrounding areas. Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Sandeep Bhajibhakare has issued official orders regarding these temporary traffic diversions and road closures.

Road Closures and Timings

To facilitate the mass prayer and manage traffic flow effectively, the following roads will remain closed from 6:00 AM to 11:30 AM:

  • Bhairobana to Golibar Maidan: Completely closed.

  • Mammadevi Chowk to Golibar Maidan: Closed in the morning.

  • CDO Chowk to Golibil Chowk: Closed during the prayer hours.

  • Old Solapur Bazaar Chowki to Golibar Chowk: Closed in the morning.

Diversions and Alternative Routes

  • Heavy vehicles heading toward Swargate will be diverted via Prince of Wales Road–Lullanagar Chowk.

  • Vehicles bound for Pune Station will be diverted via Empress Garden Road.

  • Commuters using the Mammadevi Chowk–Golibar Maidan route can take Bishop School Marg/Command Hospital Marg → Napier Road → CDO Chowk as an alternative.

  • Traffic from Lullanagar will be diverted left from CDO Chowk, while vehicles from Khatav Bungalow Chowk will be diverted right towards Napier Road.

  • Those travelling from Lullanagar Chowk to Golibar Chowk will not be permitted to enter with heavy vehicles. The suggested route is via Khane Maruti Chowk → Pulgate Depot → Solapur Bazaar Chowk → Napier Road → Khatav Bungalow Chowk.

The Pune Traffic Department has assured that officers will be deployed in adequate numbers to manage the situation and provide assistance to commuters. Citizens are urged to cooperate with the traffic authorities and follow diversion signs to avoid inconvenience.

These changes are temporary and intended to facilitate a peaceful and smooth celebration for the Muslim community while maintaining traffic order across the city.
