There will be a significant improvement in public transport facilities for Pune residents. An important decision has been made in the state cabinet meeting regarding the second phase of the Pune Metro Rail Project. In-principle approval has been granted for the construction of two new stations on the Swargate to Katraj metro corridor. These stations will be built at Balajinagar and Bibwewadi, and an additional expenditure of 683.11 Crores has been approved by the state government for this purpose.

This decision will make metro travel more convenient for the citizens of the southern part of Pune and will also greatly help in reducing traffic congestion on the roads. Pune Municipal Corporation's share in this project is 227.42 crore rupees, and a loan of 341.13 crore rupees will be obtained from the European Investment Bank. In addition, the total expenditure will be 683.11 crore rupees, including the state's secondary loan and interest-free loan.

These two stations will make Metro Phase-2 more efficient, providing citizens with modern, fast, and environmentally friendly travel. Additionally, approval has been granted to relocate the Katraj station approximately 421 meters to the south.

Meanwhile, loan agreements for various metro projects in Pune, Thane, and Nagpur were also approved in the meeting. This decision will accelerate metro projects in many cities across Maharashtra.
