Raj Thackeray Criticizes RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat
Scroll down to read the news in brief...
(Raj Thackeray) In the recently held two-day lecture series of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in Mumbai, Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat made a statement. Raj Thackeray criticized Mohan Bhagwat on Twitter regarding this statement. Mohan Bhagwat said, 'On February 8, 2026, at an event in Mumbai, Sarsanghchalak Mr. Mohan Bhagwat made a statement implying that being insistent about language and agitating for it is a disease.'
Various dignitaries from different fields were invited to this program, and some of them were also present! However, I want to tell Mohanrao Bhagwat that all those people did not come out of love for you, but they came due to the governmental fear of Narendra Modi! Otherwise, why has no one ever come to such boring sermons before? So, first, come out of the misconception that those people came for you. Anyway... We believe that Bhagwat must certainly know the history of why linguistic reorganization had to be done in this country! If Bhagwat finds love for language and love for the province to be a disease, we wish to bring to his attention that this disease exists in most states of this country.
'In the south, from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu, there are intense linguistic and regional identities. Whether it's West Bengal, Punjab, or even Gujarat, this sentiment exists there too. Have Bhagwat ever tried to understand what exactly this sentiment is? When groups of people from 4/5 states in the country go to different states, act arrogantly, reject the local culture, insult the local language, and create their own constituencies, it creates resentment among the locals, leading to an outburst. Would you call this a disease? And if you consider this a disease, then this disease has also spread in your Gujarat. When thousands of people from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were driven away in Gujarat, why didn't you go there to teach lessons of harmony? Why didn't you teach such lessons in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, and West Bengal?'
'The Marathi person is tolerant, but the rulers here are spineless, which is why Bhagwat dares. A few months ago, on the eve of elections, Bhaiyyaji Joshi made a statement implying that the language of Mumbai is not only Marathi but also Gujarati, trying to provoke the Marathi people and appease the Gujarati speakers. All this was done to see how it could indirectly benefit the BJP. Fundamentally, why should the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, which claims to be a non-political organization, get involved in this mess? We have respect for the work of the Sangh, but they should not get involved in taking indirect political stances. And if they must, then pull the ears of the government imposing Hindi (which is not the national language) across the country and then teach us about harmony.'
'Do not try to enlighten us with Hindutva. I have often said that whenever there is an attack on Hindus, we will do whatever is possible as Hindus! The party that took out a march against the Raza Academy riots and protested against loudspeakers on mosques, as well as took a stand against loudspeakers and DJs during Hindu festivals when citizens were being disturbed, was the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. We firmly state what is wrong is wrong. Mohanrao, when will you speak like that? The chaos happening across the country in the name of Hindutva, the obscene way women are made to dance in the Kanwar Yatras in North India, and the fact that in 2014 our country was ranked 9th in beef export and is now ranked 2nd, and the spectacle of politics over cow slaughter in our country that is inciting people, when will you speak on that? When will you reprimand the government against those traders? Anyway, what you should do is up to you. For us, the Marathi language and the Marathi people are of utmost priority. Linguistic and regional identities will remain in this country, and they will also remain in Maharashtra! This is our identity, and whenever such situations arise, Maharashtra will stand up with fervor.' said Raj Thackeray.
