Heavy Rains Ratnagiri District; Flooding Reported Across Multiple Talukas
The intensity of rainfall has significantly increased across Ratnagiri district over the past few days, leading to flooding in several areas. Talukas including Rajapur, Lanja, Dapoli, Guhagar, and Ratnagiri have been severely affected, with normal life disrupted since midnight on Saturday. In response, the district administration has been placed on high alert.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘Red Alert’ for Ratnagiri, warning of continued heavy to very heavy rainfall. The torrential downpours have caused substantial damage to infrastructure—roads, houses, and farmlands—especially in the western part of Rajapur taluka, where a cloudburst-like situation has led to widespread inundation.
Rainfall Statistics (Last 24 Hours):
Mandangad: 177.50 mm
Dapoli: 138.85 mm
Guhagar: 140.00 mm
Ratnagiri: 123.33 mm
Lanja: 118.80 mm

The relentless rainfall has flooded riverbanks and submerged vast stretches of paddy fields, leading to significant damage to recently planted crops. Farmers are now facing mounting financial challenges as their agricultural losses continue to grow.
With forecasts predicting continued rain, local authorities have intensified emergency response measures. Disaster management teams are on standby, and precautionary efforts are underway to mitigate further risks.
