Mulund Bridge Accident: Reckless bridge work havoc! Car damaged by falling iron pillar
Another shocking example of playing with citizens' safety under the guise of ongoing development work in Mulund, Mumbai, has come to light. During the ongoing bridge work here, a major accident was averted when an iron piece fell directly on a car without any safety arrangements. Fortunately, there was no loss of life, but the vehicle was significantly damaged. This incident has caused intense anger among citizens over the negligence of the contractors.
Dhanesh Baburam Yadav (age 31), residing in Bhandup West, was returning home with friends from the Mulund area on the night of February 14, 2025. At this time, an iron part suddenly fell on their Fortuner car from the ongoing bridge work near pillar number 28. Notably, there were no barricades, no signboards, and no security guards arranged at the site. Yet, the road was kept open for traffic.
It is reported that employees of S.P.S. Construction Company were working at the scene. According to the complainant's allegations, an iron ladder being moved broke and fell directly onto the car. Eyewitnesses stated that this negligence could have caused a disaster in an instant.
After the incident, Dhanesh Yadav has filed a complaint against the concerned workers and contractors at Mulund police station. “If someone had lost their life due to negligence, who would take responsibility?” he asked angrily. According to citizens, such incidents are happening repeatedly because safety regulations are not being followed at development sites.
It has once again become clear that due to the disregard for safety regulations, the arbitrariness of contractors, and the laxity of the administration in the works being carried out in the name of development in Mumbai, the lives of citizens are at risk. Now the only question is—will there be strict action against those responsible for this negligence, or will this matter be suppressed once again?
