Relief for Marathwada! 81% Water Storage in Jayakwadi Dam; Summer Worries Averted?
Currently, the Nath Sagar Dam, considered the lifeline of Marathwada, has abundant water available. The dam currently has about 81% live storage, and the water level is higher than last year. This provides relief for the upcoming summer. As per the morning record of February 14, the useful water storage in the dam is more than 1760 million cubic meters. Compared to last year, the increase in storage has created a hopeful situation for agriculture, drinking water, and industries.
Due to the canals of Nath Sagar, water is supplied to lakhs of hectares of agriculture in Paithan, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, and Parbhani districts. This storage is extremely important for wheat, chickpeas, sorghum, and other Rabi crops. The water pipelines built for the growing water needs of cities will also benefit from this storage.\
However, if the temperature rises in summer, the rate of evaporation may increase. Therefore, there may be stress on water in the months of April-May. It is believed that with proper planning and careful use, this summer will be relatively smooth.
