(Sanjay Raut) Sanjay Raut interacted with the media. During this time, he commented on the local self-government elections. Sanjay Raut said, "There is a need to take the local self-government elections in Maharashtra, including Mumbai, very seriously. The common man sends his representatives to the district council, municipal corporation, and municipality. Local self-government institutions are institutions that decentralize power. In Maharashtra, these local self-government institutions are very important and they have strength."

"At this time, if the voter lists and overall mechanism in the local self-government elections are going to be like those in the Legislative Assembly, then those elections are meaningless. Therefore, when the all-party delegation met the Chief Election Officer, who is the representative of the Election Commission of India for Maharashtra, they submitted a memorandum. They did not make any decisions themselves and forwarded it to the center. Then why have you been appointed in the state? The Supreme Court has instructed to complete the election process by January 31. But to complete this election process, the defects in the voter lists should be corrected."

Along with this, he further said, "You did not hold elections for 5-6 years. So what if it's delayed by 2-4 months? The electoral rolls should be flawless, otherwise holding elections would be a mockery of democracy. We presented this stance. A statement was given regarding that stance. The chief officials in Maharashtra cannot make decisions. Now what to do? They ask, this is a tragedy. What to do means correct the electoral rolls. This is in your hands, right? Delete the bogus names. Include those whose names have been omitted in large numbers." This is what Sanjay Raut said.
