Navi Mumbai CIDCO: Scam in CIDCO tenders in Navi Mumbai?
Scroll down to read the news in brief...
(Navi Mumbai CIDCO) CIDCO had published a tender for development under the Center of Excellence near the airport in Navi Mumbai at Kunde Vahal. This tender process started in October 2025. After the process began, an order came, and both tenders were canceled. It was stated that the tenders were canceled due to some administrative reasons. However, even though everything was going well, the tender was canceled, and a new tender was issued in its place. However, some changes were made in this newly issued tender, which are suspicious. It is being said that in CIDCO, direct government rules are being broken to benefit a favored person.
It was stated that only those with work experience in the MMR region would qualify for this tender. It is being said that officials imposed this condition to ensure their favored contractor gets the tender. Now the question arises, if a company is doing significant work at the national level but outside the MMR, how can it be deemed ineligible? While renowned and experienced companies at the national level are willing to work, the condition of the MMRA region was imposed on someone's orders.
Therefore, the question arises whether this tender is for the benefit of the public or to fill the pockets of a beloved contractor. The financial conditions in the new tender have been relaxed. For part one, the capital requirement has been reduced from 70 crores directly to 50 crores, while for part two, it has been reduced from 120 crores to 76 crores. The work period has been extended from 365 days directly to 487 days.
Due to all these developments, there is currently a big discussion that this scheme is being set up to give work to a contractor favored by the leaders. Why is there an effort to award tenders worth crores of rupees to a specific contractor? This question is being raised. Currently, the winds of upcoming municipal elections are blowing in Maharashtra. Therefore, it will be important to see if a high-level inquiry is conducted into this matter.
