Scramble for Water, a Strain on the Pocket... Is This the Identity of Development?
There is currently a severe water shortage in the Tawari Pada area of Ayregaon, Dombivli. With the regular tap supply stopped, residents have to scramble for water every day. Women and senior citizens are seen going out in search of water early in the morning. Some families even have to buy drinking water, paying around 200 rupees per trip.
This increasing expense has disrupted household budgets. Due to the lack of water, household chores, children's education, and daily routines have been disrupted. The situation in a city that dreams of being a smart city has led to growing dissatisfaction among citizens. Local representatives have admitted that the supply has been disrupted in some areas due to technical difficulties.
Meanwhile, it has been stated that the work on the new water tank and the process of laying internal pipelines is underway. Although official water connections have increased, some areas still lack connections. It has been assured that the situation will improve once the work is completed.
