The reservation for mayor positions in 29 municipal corporations in the state has been determined, and this time women have received significant representation. There will be women mayors in a total of 15 municipal corporations, while the remaining places have been opened to the general category. 4 corporations have been reserved for OBC women, and 9 for general women.

After this decision, the mayoral post in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation has been reserved for the general women's category. However, the Thackeray group has expressed dissatisfaction with this reservation. Former Mayor Kishori Pednekar has raised questions about the reservation process, alleging injustice to the OBC and tribal categories.

According to them, an OBC woman has never been able to become the mayor in Mumbai. This time, that opportunity should have been given. Also, despite having tribal category corporators, why were they not considered, they questioned. They also accused that while deciding the reservation, rules were changed to suit the convenience of those in power.

Meanwhile, mayoral positions have been allocated in various municipal corporations according to Scheduled Castes, Tribes, OBC, and open categories. With the announcement of reservations, the political temperature of the upcoming municipal elections is expected to rise significantly.
