(Breaking News) It has emerged that 2373 women in Maharashtra committed suicide in 2023 due to harassment at in-laws. This information has come to light from the 2023 report of the National Crime Records Bureau. The issue of harassment of daughters-in-law has resurfaced following the suicide of Dr. Gauri Palve, wife of Anant Garje, PA to Maharashtra's Environment Minister Pankaja Munde.
Previously, Vaishnavi Hagwane from Pune also committed suicide. Hagwane was assaulted, and from that, she ended her life. This was revealed in the post-mortem report. It is reported that nearly 50% of women committed suicide due to their husband's extramarital affairs and harassment from in-laws.
