Supriya Sule Reacts to Manikrao Kokate’s Removal from Agriculture Minister Post
Manikrao Kokate has been caught in a whirlwind of controversy for the past few days. A video of Kokate playing the 'Rummy' game on his mobile went viral. Following this video, opponents strongly criticized him and demanded his resignation. Against this backdrop, the agriculture department has now been taken away from Manikrao Kokate. Dattatray Bharane will oversee the affairs as the new Agriculture Minister of the state. Therefore, Manikrao Kokate will now be responsible for the Ministry of Sports and Youth Welfare.
Against this backdrop, Supriya Sule has reacted. Supriya Sule said, 'When the agricultural sector in the state is completely collapsing, how sensitive will Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate, who plays rummy while sitting in the legislature, be to the farmers' issues? Even more concerning is how serious the ruling party, which merely changes the minister's portfolio to provide protection, will be? It is hard not to doubt this. The Chief Minister of the state should indeed feel regret that a person who has no awareness of their position and responsibility is in the cabinet.'
'The Chief Minister himself should take the initiative to dismiss the minister who has tarnished the state's reputation by calling the Maharashtra government 'beggar'. The decision to award him the position of Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare and Minority Development and Waqf as a reward for playing rummy in the legislature is truly incomprehensible. This has exposed the priorities of this government.'
Along with this, she further said, 'On one hand, the young generation in the state is getting ruined by being addicted to online rummy. While there is a demand to ban it, Manikrao Kokate is given important portfolios like sports and youth welfare as a reward for playing rummy in the legislature, which is another cruel joke. I request the Chief Minister to please take Manikrao Kokate's resignation and work to preserve the state's prestige.' said Supriya Sule.
