The Indian Meteorological Department has released the long-term weather forecast for the second phase of the southwest monsoon, i.e., the period of August-September 2025. According to this forecast, there is a likelihood of less than average rainfall in the state in August, while satisfactory rainfall is expected to be recorded once again in September.

In the month of August, rainfall in most parts of the country is expected to remain within the average range, that is, between 94 percent and 106 percent. There is a possibility of slightly less rainfall during this period in the state, especially in the southwestern coastal areas and regions connected to central India, where rainfall may be recorded below average.

On the other hand, in the month of September, there is a forecast of more than normal rainfall across the country and in the state as well. During the combined period of August to September, the total rainfall in the country will be more than 106 percent of the long-term average. This includes the state, and the late rainfall in September could be beneficial for the Kharif season.

In the month of August, the maximum temperature in the state is expected to remain normal to slightly above normal. Particularly, the intensity of heat may be felt more in some parts of the state. There is a possibility of an increase in minimum temperature, and the rise in temperature may lead to an increase in humidity and sultriness.
