The horrific incident that occurred on Thursday (August 7) afternoon in Hattur Shivara of South Solapur Taluka has caused distress in the area. During the work of applying fertilizer in the sugarcane field, a metal pipe came in contact with a high-voltage power line, resulting in the instant death of the farm owner and laborer.

Among the deceased are Basavaraj Shivanand Patil (34) and Ravikant Dhondappa Naikwade (37, both residents of Hattur). Due to the rain, Basavaraj started the work of applying fertilizer in the sugarcane field with his tractor, taking three laborers in the morning. While cultivating with a large iron pipe mounted on the tractor, it touched the high-voltage power line passing over the field.

As a result, an electric current instantly flowed into the tractor. Driver Basavaraj and laborer Ravikant received a severe electric shock and fell unconscious. Nearby people immediately moved them to Markandeya Hospital in Solapur, but both died before treatment. Fortunately, the other two laborers on the tractor jumped out and were saved.

The incident has been recorded by the police and further investigation is underway. The sudden accident has spread grief in Hattur and the surrounding area. Local farmers and villagers have expressed the need to increase safety measures while working near electric wires.
