Vaishnavi Hagawane Case: Jalindar Supekar Transferred to Home Guard Department
In a significant development related to the controversial death case of Vaishnavi Hagawane in Pune, senior police officer Jalindar Supekar has been transferred from his current post, marking a major administrative action amidst growing public outrage.
Jalindar Supekar, who served as the Special Inspector General of Police, Prisons and Correctional Services in Pune, has been relieved of his responsibilities and reassigned to the Home Guard Department in Mumbai. The transfer was initiated through a formal circular issued by the Maharashtra State Home Department.
The Vaishnavi Hagawane case has triggered widespread anger across the state, drawing attention to Supekar due to his familial ties with the victim's relatives. Supekar is the maternal uncle of Shashank and Sushil Hagawane — a relationship that has come under scrutiny following allegations regarding the issuance of arms licenses to the Hagawane brothers.
According to sources, Supekar has been stripped of his additional responsibilities across three different posts prior to the transfer. The state government’s move is being viewed as a direct response to the allegations and rising pressure from civil society demanding accountability in the case.
