Weather Alert: Heavy Rain Forecast for Konkan and Ghats
After a brief respite, monsoon showers have resumed across Maharashtra, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds in various regions. Citizens, who had been reeling under the heat during the dry spell, can now expect cooler temperatures — though potentially disruptive weather conditions lie ahead.
The IMD has reported intense rainfall activity over the Konkan region and the Western Ghats, with more heavy downpours likely in the coming days. While the overall intensity of rainfall across the state is expected to decrease slightly from today, Konkan and the hilly Ghats remain under close watch for heavy rain warnings.
The weather department has also issued a precautionary alert for Marathwada and Vidarbha, where rain accompanied by lightning is expected at isolated locations. Authorities have advised residents in these regions to remain cautious and avoid open areas during storms.
In light of the forecast, villages located along riverbanks have been urged to stay vigilant due to the potential for sudden rises in water levels. The public has been advised to seek shelter in safe locations and stay updated through official channels for any emergency instructions.
