"Government Should Fill Potholes on Roads, Not in Their Pockets": Aaditya Thackeray Slams Ruling Alliance
As heavy rains lashed Mumbai since early morning, leading to widespread waterlogging, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray took the opportunity to sharply criticize the ruling state government for its failure in urban planning and infrastructure management.
Aaditya Thackeray visited several waterlogged areas in Mumbai to assess the situation firsthand. Speaking to the media during his visit, he questioned the state’s preparedness for the monsoon and alleged mismanagement in recent infrastructure projects.
“This is not the first rain of the season,” Thackeray said. “When I went to inspect the Aqualine underground metro, I found that sewage had already entered the site and a protective wall had collapsed. If this is the condition, how was the project inaugurated just two weeks ago? Was it merely a show?”
Thackeray did not stop there. He accused the government of neglecting critical civic issues and claimed that despite repeated warnings and meetings, no corrective action has been taken.
“We have consistently raised the road scam before the government. I even held a meeting with Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, but there has been no improvement,” he added.
He further alleged that the condition of Mumbai has deteriorated ever since the city came under BJP’s administration. "The lies of this government are now being exposed before the people. Instead of making Mumbai pothole-free, they’ve filled their own pockets," Thackeray said in a scathing remark.
Directing his criticism at Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and the administration, Thackeray said, “For years we’ve been witnessing the reasons behind his desertion. The so-called guardian ministers are more focused on claiming bungalows than being visible on the streets. Where are the new cars? Why is there no attention on actual civic needs?”
Thackeray urged the BJP to stop playing politics and focus instead on resolving the issues faced by citizens in Mumbai, Thane, and Pune.
