In a major political development, the Congress party is set to suffer a significant jolt in Sangli as senior party leader Jayashree Patil is all set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today.

Jayashree Patil, who had rebelled during the Maharashtra Assembly elections and currently serves as the Vice-Chairperson of the Sangli District Central Cooperative Bank, will formally switch allegiance to the BJP at 3 PM. The induction ceremony will take place at the BJP office in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule, and senior BJP leader Chandrakant Patil.

Patil is a prominent political figure in the region. She is the wife of late Madan Patil, a senior Congress leader and former minister, and the granddaughter of the iconic Maharashtra leader Vasantdada Patil. Her decision to join the BJP is being viewed as a strategic and symbolic victory for the saffron party in Western Maharashtra.

With her entry, the BJP is expected to gain considerable traction in Sangli district, especially among cooperative and rural constituencies where the Patil family holds significant influence.
