Narayan Rane Slams Uddhav Thackeray Over Victory Rally on Cancelled Hindi GRs
Union Minister Narayan Rane has launched a scathing attack on Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, following the announcement of a victory rally on July 5. The rally is being organized to celebrate the Maharashtra government’s decision to cancel two Government Resolutions (GRs) that made Hindi language education compulsory.
Reacting strongly on social media, Rane criticized Thackeray, accusing him of exploiting Marathi pride for political convenience. In his tweet, Rane remarked:
"Uddhav Thackeray's love for Marathi is selfish, political, and opportunistic. Where was this love when he was the Chief Minister? What did he do for the employment, business, and livelihood of the Marathi people? He only worked for his own welfare in the name of Marathi. What about the welfare of Marathi-speaking citizens?"
Continuing his criticism, Rane raised questions about the decline in the Marathi-speaking population in Mumbai:
"Who is responsible for the fact that the percentage of Marathi people in Mumbai—the capital of Maharashtra—has dropped to 18 percent? If there was genuine love for Marathi, why were children taught in English-medium schools?"
Commenting on the upcoming rally, Rane mocked the decision to celebrate the cancellation of the Hindi GRs:
"Holding a victory rally just because the government cancelled two GRs is like saying, 'You can’t dance, so blame the courtyard.' It’s baseless and politically motivated," he said.
