ICC Made a Big Decision
The International Cricket Council Suspended the American Cricket Team's Membership
Consistent Breach of Responsibilities by USA Cricket
(ICC) The International Cricket Council has suspended the membership of the American cricket team. According to the ICC, USA Cricket has repeatedly violated organizational responsibilities and constitutional terms. This decision was made at the ICC board meeting. The issues mentioned include the failure to establish proper governance by the organization, lack of necessary progress to gain recognition from the American Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and damage to the image of cricket in the USA and globally.
Earlier, in the month of July, the ICC had given USA Cricket a final warning to conduct independent and transparent elections and implement reforms within three months. However, due to non-compliance, the decision to suspend has been made, and this action has taken place at a time when USA Cricket recently canceled a 50-year commercial agreement with American Cricket Enterprises (ACE).
Under this agreement, ACE was granted rights to elite T-20 cricket in the USA. However, disputes arose over financial payments, stadium construction, and administrative interference, leading to the severance of relations.
The ICC has clarified that the national teams of the United States will participate in ICC international competitions. Preparations for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics will also continue. To regain membership, the ICC has appointed a special 'Normalization Committee'. This committee will guide USA Cricket in implementing reforms and will monitor their progress.
