Team India has announced the squad for the first ODI series of 2026 against New Zealand. The BCCI selection committee announced this 15-player squad eight days before the series. Three matches will be played between the two teams, starting from January 11. Cricket fans have been eagerly waiting for this squad for many days, and now the BCCI has ended this anticipation. Notably, the captain has been changed for this series.

Shubman Gill has returned as captain in the One Day team, while Shreyas Iyer has made a comeback as vice-captain. Shubman, who was injured in the series against South Africa, has now been given the responsibility of leadership. Shreyas Iyer was injured during the Australia tour, and now he has made a comeback. However, whether Shreyas will play depends on his fitness, as mentioned in the BCCI press release. KL Rahul played the last series against South Africa, and now the responsibility has been handed over to Shubman.

Besides Shubman-Shreyas, fast bowler Mohammed Siraj and all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy have also returned to the team. However, experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami has once again not been given a chance. Shami's fans are disappointed, and questions have been raised about his future opportunities.

The schedule of the series is as follows

The first match is on January 11 in Baroda

The second on January 14 in Rajkot

The third-final match will be played on January 18 in Indore.

  • Shubman Gill is the new ODI team captain, Shreyas Iyer is the vice-captain

  • Mohammad Siraj and Nitish Kumar Reddy have returned to the team

  • Mohammad Shami did not get a chance, disappointment among fans

  • Series schedule: January 11 in Baroda, January 14 in Rajkot, January 18 in Indore
