Indian cricket team's vice-captain Shreyas Iyer has been admitted to the hospital due to a serious injury sustained during the third match against Australia in Sydney. While taking a spectacular catch with a high jump, he suffered a severe blow to his left rib, and further examinations revealed that the injury was more serious.
Upon returning to the dressing room after the match, abnormalities were noticed in Shreyas's vital signs. Subsequently, the BCCI medical team immediately started treatment and, without taking any risks, he was promptly moved to the hospital. The examination diagnosed internal bleeding, and he is currently receiving treatment in the ICU of a hospital in Sydney.
Related sources have stated that Shreyas will remain under observation for the next two to seven days. Extra care is being taken to prevent the risk of infection due to bleeding. Although the situation is currently stable, it has been revealed that if immediate hospitalization had not occurred, the situation could have become more serious.
Due to this injury, it is currently not possible to specify a definite timeline for when Shreyas Iyer will be able to return to the field. It is estimated that the fitness and rehabilitation process may take more time. Therefore, his participation in the upcoming series is considered uncertain.
Since Shreyas Iyer is currently not part of the T20 team, the decision for his return to India will be made only after his medical condition improves. According to doctors, he needs to stay in the hospital for at least a week, after which he may be allowed to travel. The Indian team management and teammates are keeping an eye on Shreyas's health, hoping for his speedy recovery. There is also an atmosphere of concern among Indian fans regarding his health.
