The Indian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup was announced today, Saturday (December 20), by chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Suryakumar Yadav at a press conference. Seven veteran players from the winning team of the T20 World Cup 2024 could not secure a place in this new team. This includes former captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja, all of whom have retired from T20 international cricket. The selectors have given priority to new faces, giving experienced players a break, which has sparked discussions among cricket fans.

Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Yashasvi Jaiswal from the final 15-member squad of 2024 have not been included in this World Cup squad.
